“50 Years of Empowering Lives: Celebrating a Journey of Hope and Resilience”
Spartanburg, South Carolina — The Louvenia D. Barksdale Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation proudly announces its 50th Anniversary Celebration, commemorating half a century of dedication to empowering individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease. This milestone will take place on September 14, 2024, at 1881 Event Hall beginning at 7:00 PM.
Since its founding in 1974, the Louvenia D. Barksdale Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation has championed awareness, education, advocacy, and support for those impacted by this challenging condition. Over the past 50 years, our efforts have transformed the lives of countless individuals, fostering a community rooted in hope and resilience.
“Our journey has been fueled by the collective strength of our members, allies, and supporters. We are thrilled to celebrate this remarkable milestone with everyone who has contributed to our mission,” said Rhonda Young, Executive Director of the Louvenia D. Barksdale Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation. “This event is not only a celebration of our past but a renewed commitment to battling sickle cell disease, enhancing the quality of life for those affected, and advocating for further research and resources.”
The Louvenia D. Barksdale Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation has made significant strides in research funding, community outreach, and education initiatives over the past five decades. Our tireless advocacy efforts have led to improved healthcare policies, increased awareness, and expanded resources for patients and families dealing with sickle cell disease.
As we look towards the next 50 years, we are more committed than ever to our mission: To optimize the quality of healthcare and the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by the presence of sickle cell anemia disease.
